-- Telecommuting is the way of life for many people who work for both
large and small companies. But although the idea of working from home
may sound like nirvana, the personal and professional transition can
be quite difficult. Author Debra Dinnocenza has written a very helpful
guide for someone just beginning a telecommuting life, or for someone
considering it. She discusses many important issues, from helping family
and friends realize that when you’re working at home you’re really working,
to making sure that your colleagues “back in the office” don’t forget
you, to ensuring that customers and business partners continue to treat
you with the same respect, despite the change in work locale. The author
has broken her advice into discrete tips that can help you cope with
recalcitrant computers, avoid the beckoning call of the refrigerator,
and even dress for telecommuting success. There are so many good ideas
in this book that you should consider it your home office’s office handbook.
